Sunday on LEGEND Xtra: From Interstellar Battles to Old‑West Showdowns – Your Must‑Watch Lineup
If you’re looking to fill your Sunday evening with something that feels both nostalgic and fresh, LEGEND Xtra’s line‑up has you covered. From the high‑concept drama of Babylon 5 to the dusty showdown of True Grit, the channel’s schedule is a playground for fans who want depth without the grind of binge‑watching. Below is a quick guide to the top picks – with a dash of my own take to help you choose.
Babylon 5: S5, Ep7–Ep11 – A Galactic Power Struggle Continues
Plot: Lyta steps closer to Byron, while the colony of telepaths faces new threats. Doctor Franklin uncovers a long‑hidden alien secret. Each episode pushes the political intrigue of the season forward.
Opinion: The saga stays tight. The complex web of telepathic politics is still engaging, and the set design never feels dated.
Only The Valiant – Classic Western with Gregory Peck
Plot: A tough cavalry officer and six unlikely comrades defend an isolated fort against marauding Apaches.
Opinion: It’s solid period drama that respects its source material. If you enjoy a slow‑burn narrative, this will keep you hooked.
Charro! – Elvis Presley’s Western Adventure
Plot: Wrongfully accused of stealing a gold‑plated cannon, former outlaw Jess Wade seeks to clear his name.
Opinion: Elvis’s charisma shines, turning an otherwise formulaic plot into a memorable watch.
Showdown (1973) – The Rivalry Turns Deadly
Plot: Two cowboys’ friendship fractures as they vie for the same woman, leading to a showdown on opposite sides of the law.
Opinion: The chemistry between the leads is palpable, making the conflict feel personal rather than just another shoot‑out.
True Grit: A Further Adventure – New Take on the Old West
Plot: Marshal Rooster Cogburn, now in his later years, escorts a teenage girl on a mission to change him.
Opinion: The seasoned performances keep the story grounded; it’s a respectful nod to the original.
Legend Lowdown – Quick Monthly Recap
Plot: An overview of the latest movies and series coming to the channel.
Opinion: A handy snapshot that helps you plan future nights. Keep it handy.
The Twilight Zone – Sail Into the Unknown
Plot: An unhappy couple finds love aboard a honeymooners’ ship that sails into the unknown.
Opinion: The twist keeps the classic spirit alive, offering a fresh take on the anthology format.
Contraband – Mark Wahlberg’s Smuggling Thriller
Plot: A former smuggler heads to Panama to protect his brother‑in‑law from a ruthless drug lord and to cash in on counterfeit bills.
Opinion: The pacing is brisk, and Wahlberg’s charisma keeps the tension alive.
Striking Distance – Bruce Willis on the Hunt
Plot: A troubled river patrol officer races against time to capture a serial killer who murdered his father.
Opinion: Willis delivers a solid performance, but the narrative feels a bit familiar.
We Still Steal the Old Way – Prison Heists
Plot: After a daring heist lands them in Britain’s toughest prison, a seasoned criminal outfit faces a nemesis who wants an old score settled.
Opinion: The gritty realism adds depth to the heist genre, making it worth a watch.
The Hatton Garden Job – Real‑Life Heist Drama
Plot: A ragtag group of ageing East End criminals plan an audacious, multi‑million‑pound raid on an underground facility in London.
Opinion: The real‑story basis gives it an edge over typical crime dramas; the characters are surprisingly relatable.
Bottom Line
LEGEND Xtra’s Sunday offers a balanced mix of genres. Whether you’re in the mood for interstellar politics, classic western grit, or high‑octane crime thrillers, there’s a show ready to satisfy. Pick a genre that resonates and let the channel do the rest.
