Hollywood icon Johnny Depp reckons he’s ready for knighthood from the Queen of England … but the day he met Prince Charles turned out to be a bit of a disaster.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star has been pouring out his heart on a TV show in the UK about his desire to one day become ‘Sir Johnny.’
Depp, 52, told BBC chat host Graham Norton: “I end up here (in England) quite a lot. I’m after the ‘Sir’ thing.
“I met Prince Charles, he came to the premiere of Finding Neverland. I shook his hand but I didn’t understand a word he said and I don’t think he understood a word I said so it wasn’t very meaningful necessarily, but he seemed nice.”
Let’s hope His Majesty has better luck understanding Depp’s latest blockbuster Black Mass about former Boston-gang boss James Bulger.
We’re told Johnny also speaks movingly about the illness his daughter Lily-Rose went through as a child. The show airs Friday night.
