Justine sacco racist tweet, Barry Diller’s pr person, Just Kidding, I’m white, Hope I don’t get aids, long flight to Africa, hasjustinelandedyet, Twitter, Phil Robertson, racist rant, IAC

Justine Sacco’s now trending tweet — despite its deletion — is the worst thing since Duck Dynast star Phil Robertson’s anti-gay comments in his profile for GQ magazine.

Wait wasn’t that just a few days ago?

Yes, in fact, Sacco’s tweet has taken the reigns, leading the Internet to frenzy by positing the most intolerance using the fewest characters by tweeting: “Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just kidding. I’m white!”

We’ll let you take a collective gasp before you continue reading.

Sacco is — or was, since she’s definitely getting fired — the public relations chief for Barry Diller’s media company IAC, who owns Aereo, Match.com, Vimeo and CollegeHumor.

Since her distasteful post, the company has released this statement according to Valleywag, “This is an outrageous, offensive comment that does not reflect the views and values of IAC. Unfortunately, the employee in question is unreachable on an international flight, but this is a very serious matter and we are taking appropriate action.”

That’s better than A&E’s statement following Robertson’s anti-gay remarks. The network acted surprised at the comments when they have in fact been filming his life for at least three seasons worth of Duck Dynasty material. We’re guessing this isn’t the first time someone from A&E has heard Robertson’s anti-gay spiel.

Either way, this media firestorm has had pens flying at full speed this week. Who knew it would be a no-name PR chief to top Robertson’s level of intolerance, and all in the same week!

We’re left to wonder, what exactly possessed these two characters to make their statements? Did neither of these people know that being racist or homophobic is generally frowned upon by most societies? We’re guessing they had at least a clue, so why they stated these things so publicly is beyond us.

Is it stupidity? Could alcohol be to blame? Hidden inner demons bursting forth through the printed and tweeted word? Maybe it’s something in the water…

And to top it all off was another great non-apology this week from Rob Ford. What would the Internet do without these people?
