google, maps, middle earth

Hey gamers, give the Xbox One a rest and put yourself to good use this Thanksgiving. While mom wrestles with the turkey and sweats butterballs in the kitchen, there are a lot of things you could be doing with all this extra free time. This is no ordinary weekend, after all. It’s Thanksgiving, the most American of holidays. We feast, we football, we nap. And no matter whose family hosts Thanksgiving dinner, we can always count on some asshole making the awful joke about eating too much turkey and having a food coma. By now you’ve perfected your fake laugh for the occasion, leaving you plenty of time to ace a few extra skills over the long weekend.

  • Learn your way around Middle-earth. Google is on your side, Hobbit fans, and has released a 3D interactive Google map based on Tolkien’s hand-drawn maps. It’s free, interactive, and a cheap way to travel without having to get dressed and talk to real people.
  • Learn to cook. It may sound like a waste of time when you have mom and a microwave, but knowing how to cook dramatically increases your bachelor market value, which you need. Badly. Bikini Kitchen is a good place to start. If the cooking doesn’t hold your interest, the pair of tatas on the kitchen counter surely will.

  • Practice your Kung Fu moves for Black Friday.Nothing’s more American than stuffing our faces and then storming the gates of a superstore before dawn for a good deal. It’s a warzone on that sales floor and as Bruce Leefamously said, “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” Check out IGN’s list of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals to set your target and then brush up your moves with the legend himself on the Kung Fu Channel.Watch Now
