Crack-smoking Toronto Mayor Rob Ford can now add “jailhouse beatings” to his list of alleged illicit activities. Ford is being sued by his brother-in-law Scott MacIntyre for allegedly orchestrating a beating to keep MacIntyre from revealing Ford’s drug problems — which, if true, would have been a fruitless endeavor, in addition to being illegal, since the news of his drug use broke anyway.
MacIntyre was convicted and sent to prison after an incident in which he threatened Ford at his home. In the lawsuit, MacIntyre says that before leaving at the time, he told Ford that he “should be careful about how he treated the plaintiff because the plaintiff knew things about Ford and his family which had not been made public.”
According to the lawsuit, several inmates assaulted MacIntyre in 2012, including Aeden Petros, a 300-pound man who played football for Ford when he was a coach at Don Bosco Catholic Secondary School. MacIntyre says that leading up to the attack, he was repeatedly warned by other inmates to keep quiet about Ford’s drug habits. “They wanted to know if I was going to do the right thing –– was I going to keep my mouth shut,” MacIntyre told The Globe and Mail, adding that the inmates said things like “there is no use in bringing Rob into this; what’s done behind closed doors stays behind closed doors. … Stuff of that nature.”

As Gawker explains, “According to the lawsuit, Ford conspired with an aide about whether to have MacIntyre ‘beaten or killed’ during a meeting last year. Video from that meeting, according to the lawsuit, leaked onto the internet; if true, that solves the mystery of who Ford was ranting about killing in a video published by The Toronto Star in November.”
MacIntyre, who suffered broken teeth and a shattered lower leg during the assault, is asking for $1 million plus additional compensation for punitive damages.

Meanwhile, Ford has been spending his time lawyering up and defending Justin Bieber. Bieber, who was arrested in the U.S. last week for various charges, including driving under the influence, turned himself into the Toronto police on Thursday for an assault charge.
“He’s 19 years old guys, think back to when you were 19, you know,” Ford said, according to the Toronto Sun.
Or, you know, however old Rob Ford is.
